9/10's Magic Run comes to and end at Eastern Regional Finals

After 16 straight wins, the Fairfield 10-year-old girls softball All-Stars finally experienced defeat, losing to New York, 5-4, Saturday in the championship game of the East Region Invitational in Fleetville, Pennsylvania.

Trailing, 5-2, entering the sixth, Fairfield tried to come back, but it's rally felt just short after scoring two runs in the inning. New York escaped a bases-loaded threat to hold on for the victory.

Fairfield finished the season 16-1, by far the best record in the nine-year history of the team. It also was the first Fairfield club to win 16 straight games.

The team won back-to-back state championships, with five players being a part of both teams.
